Maybe have them look at your vacuum modulator on the transmission. It could be the cause of both your remaining troubles (vac leak and irregular trans funtion)
Epiphany - an experience of sudden and striking realization.
"I know i don't have vacuum leaks..."
Or do I?
All this talk of 1 to 2 turns out on these mixture screws, which has never worked for me before... But it's normal for every other engine I've worked on....
Suddenly a lightbulb came on, what about my PCV valves?
Even on that new 400 i had, I don't think I ever bothered to try replacing a PCV valve with the correct valve.
So, there is a chance that my PCV valves are opening and just allowing unmetered volumes of air to just hog it's way into my intake stream.....
I would have never found it with a typical vac leak hunt using a can of starting fluid or propane or what ever...
Suddenly, I know what I'm doing after work today....
Left work today, noticed a very rough idle when in gear and stopped, When I got home I reset the idle adjustment screw,as the truck seemed to want to stall,it helped, however when idling in gear the exhaust is rattling and it never did that before, everything smooths out at speed, any help would be greatly appreciated guys
