CV and rear disc swap

So I am sure this has been asked a 100 times but i can never find a thread with what im looking for . im about to start and tear down my 79 and i got a few questions , Its going to get a cv swap and going with rear disc . so what years are best for the front cv and whats the best swap for rear disc set up , also with disc I would need a Hydroboost set up ? what would that come from year and make , From my gathering of info cv would be 2003 , rear disc 96 explorer ? will any hydro boost work or ? also is there a measurement spread sheet out there to allow faster installation of this updated suspension? ty for the input

2003-2011 Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Lincoln Towncar/Mercury Marauder has the front suspension you want. For rear axle you can use 1998-2002 Crown Vic etc - it is 63" wide but only 28 spline. The 2003-2011 CV rear axles are 67" wide - too wide to fit our trucks. The 96-01 Explorer (up to 2003 for the 2 door Expy) axle is 31 spline and 59.5" wide. The Sport Trac rear axle is the same width but has drum brakes.

I'm using an 01 Expy axle, 4.10 locker, but I may need to run wheel spacers depending what rims I find to use on my truck. I am planning on mounting the axle on top of the rear springs on mine to lower the rear to match the front.

I'm not convinced you need hydroboost for the disc brake setup. I'm going to try the brake booster and master cylinder out of my donor car.

There's regularly a CV front end on kijiji in the 5-600 dollar range. A complete car in that price range is pretty hard to find in the last year and a half.

You can have my plywood templates that I used to drill my holes this morning if you want. Do NOT use the hole dimensions that are given in one thread on fordification, they are all wrong.

I am working on rear disc swap, had it working with the disc brake stuff but I think the combination valve kept too much residual pressure on the rear disc. So I swapped out for a 2000ish Explorer master cylinder and a combination valve from a 73 Lincoln Mk V with disc. In theory this should work for me but I don't have it back on the road yet. My rear end is a combination of an 84 bronco 9" axle housing and 2000 explorer rear disc with some Strange custom axles to make it all work.

I have complete 2007 Crown-Vic. with 130,000 km. It's advertised in the for sale section. I'm in Blackstock On. I also have a Mark VIII rear end.

great Info , ty . for the booster when are you planing that install I would assume a adjusting block would allow for this to work?

and the templates would be awesome , I will have to plan a trip out your way , as for a cv i got a line up on one for 150$ or whole frame for 175 it blows the rear is so wide id like to keep the bolt patterns the same , what is the with of the stock rear in the 73-79 trucks ? narrower rear would allow for wider tires maybe long as the rims allow it this will me my first conversion and i need to get a few more things before i start . like a new welder lol
