I recently acquired a set of 1991 OEM aluminum wheels and some of the plastic inserts [for the 3 screws per wheel] are in need of replacement. Are these a dealer only item?
If it's the ones I'm thinking of, I have seen re-pops on LMC. They have them in metal as well($$$). They would be the same ones that fit the styled steel wheels of our era. (See my truck)
Are you referring to the actual center cap, the black/red/silver insert, or the little nutserts that are pressed into the wheel for the screws?
I think he's referring to the plastic inserts. I bought some a year ago from one of our sponsors, but don't remember the part #. I'm looking through the parts catalog to see if I can find them.
Well, I couldn't find it in the parts catalog, but I found it in my own how-to on refinishing aluminum wheels. Part # is D7TZ-1A100-A. And the screw is 389465-S45.

Do not use the anchors more than a coupla times, cuz sooner or later, usually sooner, when rounding a corner, the hubcaps will fly off, taking the anchors and screws along with them!
When the screws are threaded into new anchors, they cut their own threads. When the screws are removed, the anchor threads are weakened. Thread the screws back in again, now...you're asking for trouble.
The anchors come in a package of 10 and are cheap! Buy at least two packages, cuz you're gonna need them, sooner or later, usually sooner.
I assume that as a Sooner, you're already aware. But, one never knows for sure, does one.
When I acquired the wheels, one center hubcap was moving and I saw that it was the inserts which were loose. I am presently cleaning the wheels and will replace the nylon anchors before using the wheels.
