Help me out here!

I am attempting to track down some rubber shock bushings for my '46. I can't find them anywhere! I bought the Ford Chassis Parts and Accessories Catalog to see if that would help, but it doesn't show what is on my truck. I'm guessing these are factory installs but what do I know? Yes, I have checked to see what kind of replacements I could find but no luck yet. There apparently are no 4 X 4 shops in town to try. I could change them to the ones that the car had but once again, no shock bushing numbers to be found. The bushings are approximately 1 x 1 with a metal sleeve inside. I don't know if the sleeve was attached to the rubber or not, don't suppose it matters.

Have you tried Mac's? I know I've found spring bushings, bolts, shackles, etc...there, and I've seen that they have the entire shock assemblies for our trucks, so they might have bushings.

You might want to check out C & G or Dennis Carpenter. The shocks on the pickup are the same as the car. If you can latch onto a copy of V-8 Times. They've got lots of advertisers in there who can all but help you build your truck from scratch.

I've been to all of the "normal" places to try to locate anything that remotely looks like my setup. While not unexpected, I find it odd that I can't find the "right" parts. Time to check out the V-8 times though, never heard of that one. Thanks!

No luck there either. They referred me to Dennis Carpenter and I've been trying to deal with the NOS guy for the last 3 days and we are having "communication issues" and he doesn't have enough work so he's not there all the time. I called a 4X4 shop today and they were less than helpful. I just got off the phone with the only local restoration shop in town and now they are on the case. I hope they can come up with something suitable. Don't you just hate old trucks?

I hate old shocks. I replaced mine with modern tube style ones.

Modern shocks were not really an option, I have no welding skills at all. I did find what I was looking for in the way of the links from the car shocks though. They apparently don't use bushings and fit perfectly where the goofy ones I had were.
