I have a 55 f100 and after sitting for 2 years i decided to try to start her up yesterday evening.
The last time i worked on her i was just finishing up over-hauling the engine, then life got in the way as it goes.
But i charged up the battery, checked the oil and hit the start button.
She tried turning over several times but i couldn't get any gas up to the carb. So i tried to syphen gas up through the hose and could hardly get any to start to pour out. THen i tried to syphen before the fuel pump and plenty came out.... Maybe a bad fuel pump...?
The valving within the fuel pump will restrict siphon fuel flow. Remove the line between the pump and the carburetor, attach a line to direct fuel away from the pump and into a container and see if any fuel discharges when the engine is turned over. Have a suitable fire extinguisher available and have the vehicle outside when you attempt this. You may or may not have a bad pump.
Two year old modern fuel is generally considered not very good fuel. You may want to consider pulling fresh fuel from a separate container.
