Need help fellas...

I'll try to make this quick.... I have a 6.0 PSD 2006 F350. I've had it a year and a half. I did an EGR delete, head studs, new oil cooler, 4" MBRP turbo back. I have EOT, ECT, EGT & FP gauges. I also have a scii hooked up. I run the SCT Xtreme Street tune. This weekend I had to make a 5 hour drive to Ohio to help move someone back to PA. I went out with an empty 450lb. Aluminum trailer and did not remove the tune. On the way home I estimate no more than a 3000 lb load. I took the tune off and headed home. The check engine light came on due to the absent EGR. About two hours from home the wrench light came on and the truck went into limp home mode. The code said that the oil temp was more than 15 degrees than the the water temp. I made it home in worry. Can my oil cooler already be clogged even though it's brand new?

What were your temps on the way and coming home ? Temps towing can be and are normally higher than normal and can greater than 15 degrees . But 3k is nothing behind these trucks .

My temps coming home... The water temp never went over 212. The hottest the oil temp got was 224. At the point the light came on the ECT was at 200 and the EOT was at 224. It was 93 degrees outside going up and down some pretty steep grades and the AC was blowing. My temps fluctuate between 7-13 degrees difference under normal driving conditions. I tried my best to keep my EGT's below 1000 degrees the whole way home.

That 24 degree Temp difference is pretty conclusive. Might try swapping the sensors (the EOT and ECT sensors are the same part) and see if the temps change any. From what you describe though, it looks like a plugged (or plugging) oil cooler.

What coolant are you using and how long (miles) has it been in there?

Did u do a VC-9 an a restore coolant flush before you put in your new oil cooler. Did u install a coolant filter.

It is very possible that your oil cooler is beginning to stop up again.

Not sure what the vc-9 is and no coolant filter. Can I just replace the screen in the cooler?

The screen has nothing to do with the cooling core of the oil cooler itself. You might try searching for the back flushing procedure in the 6.0 forum and see if that will help. Some members have reported success back flushing their cooler.

Okay thank you. I'll look into that. So I should probably invest in a coolant filter than?
