Console ?

Can I swap out a 2007 E150 Console for a 2001 E150 or any style I don't find the 2007 one to suit my needs I liked the 2001 cause it had two compartment areas, One area is open and the lower one with a door, I like just the two cup holders then 4, I'm guessing its called the Console its the add on piece that slides down on the engine cover it slides on to these 3 round holders.

I've swapped the consoles from '97 up to '03 back and forth, not an issue at all. With a sharp tug upwards they come loose fairly easy. I've found the different styles on eBay quite reasonably priced but shipping is somethings a bit high---worth a look.

I liked the lower bin version since it has more room but the shorty version with 4 larger cup holders works better for mounting my MP3 player holder. Ahhh but I wish I could combine the best of both models into just one!

Will these late model consoles work on a 96 van?

Center consoles are divided by model years. '92-'96 interchange with one another, anything from '97 and later won't fit the earlier years.

I wonder if I could modify it a bit and screw it on to the earlier engine cover?

Anything is possible but from the images I have the two dog houses are different enough it would be an ugly end result.

Search around the 'net for images of your years bare dog house (or remove your existing console) and I'll photograph mine sans console. From that you might be able to make a decision.

Thanks. There is quite a bit of difference in the shapes. Looks like I will keep looking for something or may build something that will work. Thanks again.

Ya know I've not seen inside a '92-'96 E-Series but have to wonder if the dog houses themselves would swap into the '97 and later models without hassle?

That is a thought. Not sure how to figure that out without having both side by side.

If you had an image of your doghouse underside and the opening from a bit back showing it completely I could do the same for my post-'97. From there we might determine if they're interchangeable.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll try to get pictures when I get a chance.

I just bought a 97 Clubwagon and this is going to be one of the first mods. We always have multiple drinks so the one with the four cupholders is looking good.
