hydroboost questions

So today I was digging around my father's scrap yard and came across the cab of a 1977 chevy k30, so I looked under where the hood used to be and the hydroboost unit was still there. So, would this unit be okay to go into a 95 powerstroke? well technically a 86 f250 diesel, but soon to have a 95 7.3 engine and 5speed trans with the 95 dash and interior.

I have tried searching for list of some sort that tells you what units will install easier than others ect, but havent found anything. I know that the unit that is on the 97 f450 will bolt right in, but since i found this one for free I want to see if it will work without too too much fiddling around, altho that is half the fun lol. just wanna hear your input

thanks, Harv

Thats a good question.

I know its easier if you just use the Super Duty setup though.

More of a bolt in solution.

IMHO, it's not wotrth the hassle. I haul a lot with my truck and have yet to encounter a situation where I absolutely needed hydroboost brakes. Yes, they might be nice(???) but why mess with a working system for an upgrade(???) that may or may not make things better.

I will have to try to do some measuring on it and the ford ones. I just thought it would be nice to make more room under the hood and have better brakes, I know I dont NEED hydroboost, it just would be nice hehe.

Hydroboost is better than the vacuum system.
However, it runs off the PS pump... So it has to bolt up.

there is no "may" if your curious.the difference is extremely drastic with safety greatly increased by making the swap.
there is one downside however, driver comfort is a bit lost due to increased brake effort required, compared to vacuum assist.for those who haul a lot regularly,it's well worth the very easy direct (just about, depending on how you do it) bolt in ford f-super duty (pre-f450) system.

op; id sell the chevy kit,and put the $ toward the correct ford system.

I was once told (How true it is I do not know) But the Chevy Hydroboost from there 88-98 OBS trucks will fit a Ford. I would look into it more.

EDIT: Here is a link that may help....

I did some eye balling between the stock booster and master cylinder, and it looks like it will nearly bolt right in. the master cylinder just needs it's mount holes drilled wider(the mounting studs on the booster are a little bit wider than the stock on), and the hyrobooster needs four holes drilled in the mounting plate so it can bolt onto the firewall. And the push rod from the h/b into the m/c either needs like half an inch cut off or spacers on the mounting studs. And of course the main push rod cut to the appropriate length. Hoses shouldnt be too big of an issue, my father has a hose press for making hydraulic lines for the logging machines, so I just need fittings. I will probably do the swap when spare time comes my way
