Has anyone here been affected personally, or know someone who has, by the 80+ tornados from recent days?? I thank god that I am nowhere near those things. We had a microburst tornado take down my neighbors barn when I was a kid (in MA, go figure).
The devastation here in western Tennessee is to be seen to be believed. Jackson (just down the road) got hit by an F4, Dyersburg got a couple of F3s to contend with. Flooding is rife throughout the local counties, and there have been over 100 severe thunderstorms, with hail up to 3".
There were over 25 different tornado sightings, within 30 miles of my home, in nine hours, on Sunday evening. There has not yet been an accurate tally of the dollar cost - it will be in the billions.
All of this is being caused by a cold front, that has stalled to the west. Could somebody go jump start the silly thing please.
Today is brilliant sunshine, with squelchy ground, and extreme humidity. The meteorological ramifications of this current weather ensure that the tornadoes will be back to play tonight. If not actually touching down, they will be around, growling at us all, and scaring the bejeebas out of me. My truck does not fit in the garage, and 3' hail damages things. Every storm that comes anywhere near finds me scanning the radar pictures for a safe area to drive my truck to.
Crazy, I do not care about the house, just my truck.
The tornado that hit Gladstone, Missouri destroyed the subdivision next to where I grew up, and where I have some old friends living. Thus far the only friend with damage I know of has broken skylights and a badly damaged roof from baseball sized hail. I am waiting to hear about the others.
I'll be going back to that area at the end of this month for a wedding. I'll survey the damage for myself then.
I am in Mississippi and we got the bad weather that produced tornandos around Kanasas and that region. Then we got all the rain and flooding. Jackson Mississippi got some bad tornandos which is about 2 hrs from me.
Then the storm moved east to GA and some torandos hit there..I am so glad we did have any here, we just got the rain and some small hail.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys down there. Here in central Alberta, all we're dealing with is four days of snow (!) so far. Nine inches in my yard now but shrinking fast with some warmer weather coming in.
I am in the military at Little Rock AFB, one of the people on base, they live up in BeeBee, just north of where I live, had their house garage, cars, and the new additions they JUST completed LEVELED this week, the base has started a fund to help this family out, they have lost signifigant finances due to the fact that the insurance is not going to cover all of it, especially their new addition.
Mr. Bush and the elephants in Congress have voted billions to rebuild iraq ..which they WON"T have to repay. You'd think that we could at least....spend a couple of billion and rebuild the homes and businesses of American citizens....wouldn't you!!! Something is rotten in Denmark!!..I know that Some will...qualify for low interest loans.....what an Insult to the citizens of those area's that were destroyed to receive LESS gov't help than all those Damn turbin heads in Iraq. Why doesn't someone ask Mr.Bush why he is willing to help THEM more than he is the voters in His Own Country??? fd
On Tuesday there were tornado warnings pretty close to here. I believe there was one spotted about about 25 min. from here.
Our county was surrounded by warnings on the west, north, and south side of us. Supposedly the fronts collided (sp?) and nothing happened really close to here.
Dang, nothing ever happens around here. Oh, well, we don't have insurance on the house anyway so I guess it's a good thing nothing happened.
