Glad to hear your motor has stayed together. Where were you six months ago when I made the same suggestion. I was told it was a bad idea, that the piston could be weakened by enlarging the pin bore and I would have a hard time finding a machine shop willing to try it.
How does polishing the chambers aid open chamber combustion?
doesn't that enlarge the chambers slightly also by a few cc's?
If that works, I would rather go that way. My 410 CI build is not that serious. Just want to stomp a few GM"s with it.
I can tolerate 9:5 comp or a little less. It'll still leave me some power adder options for later on. I still could get 400 hp out of it.The $300 for 4V cores could go on something else to help me complete the project.
It was my understanding that polishing the chambers smoothes out all the rough spots that can get hotter than the smooth surfaces as cause pinging. Polishing will reduce pinging and helps to promote an overall broader torque curve, although I cant say if it actually gains you a 'substantial' difference in power.
