Angry This is what makes me mad.....

Mazda who is owned by Ford can put a 3.0 220 hp engine in a four door sedan.....check it out. What is up with the Ranger? Sure hope Whipple gets that supercharger on the market soon.

This is what makes me mad.....

Take a look at the power curve for that vs the 3.0ohv, it's not really a good truck engine.

This is what makes me mad.....

Torque numbers:

Mazda 192 @ 5000
Ford 180 @ 3900

Yes, the extra power would be nice, but that engine just isn't set up for use in a truck. Power is way too high up the RPM scale. Peak HP was at 6300 RPM.

Just an FYI, that's the V-6 that comes in the Escape, I believe it's a Ford engine.

This is what makes me mad.....

Anyone else notice that the Mazda version of the engine is DOHC and 10:1 compression, while the Ranger version is OHV and 9.5:1? I wonder what it would take to swap the heads and DOHC setup...

The point that I was trying to make was that the 3.0 ranger has a measly 150hp......while these little sedans pass me on the road that have 200 plus hp

This is what makes me mad.....

1) Thats what the 4.0 with 207 hp is for.
2) That hp is only at 6300rpm. At normal rpms its about what you have now.

HP =(RPMXtorque) / (Something that i forget)

Oh and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you can purchase a new 4.0 cheaper than adapting the 3.0 dohc heads/cams etc to the 3.0 ohv bottom end.
