I don't know if you guys can help, but I figure it's worth a try. I own a 2002 F-250 V10. That's right a V10. I have a Whipple supercharger on it that gives me 6lbs of boost. I'm going to a smaller pulley on the blower so I can get 8-9 pounds of boost. The thing is I don't feel confirtable enough without some sort of intercooler. So my question is, will the Powerstroke intercooler fit in my truck and is it capable of providing the cooler air I need. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
I don't know about fitment, but an intercooler is useful with boost levels over 3-4 lbs. to cool charge air. Search the aftermarket for kits that work with the supercharger you are using then you just have to run the plumbing.
Same engine bay, so obviously it will fit physically. I have no idea if the radiator/mounts are the same, but if not you could swap out PSD pieces for that too. The V-10 might be longer as well, so you may need electric fans.
I guess my answer to your question is: I have no earthly idea , but as far as
is it capable of providing the cooler air I need
then yes, it is. The '01 and up models have a revised cooler that is larger and flows a bit more.
Of coarse one of the main reason's I'm interested in the Powerstroke intercooler, is cause I can get one from the dealer for about $320.00(Ford discount). Alot cheaper then an aftermarket intercooler. The only costly thing will be the plumbing. Is it true those turbos on the Powerstroke put out about 12-15 pounds of boost?
Can you run an intercooler with that supercharger? Doesn’t it supply the change directly into the top of the intake?? Unlike a turbo that runs off the exhaust flow
17-18 pounds of boost? D@mn! Now I'm wondering if that intercooler might actually cause me to lose boost if I use it. This is tougher then I'd thought it would be.
