Mileage?

I am a researchoholic and I have been working on my truck non-stop in search of optimum MPG. Granted, I have a big diesel and it's not quite the same as a 5.4 - but I've been doing this long before my first diesel.
Everybody already said it - there are small gains to be made by keeping the vehicle properly tuned, but huge gains can be made by driving style. Chipping helps performance and shifts, but I haven't seen one post from any member that installed a chip and it delivered profound MPG gains. If you want a big vehicle like the Superduty and better fuel economy - diesel. That's the only way you're going to have significant gains in MPG while slinging 8000 pounds.
Before this turns into a gas/diesel mudsling - diesel has it's drawbacks as well. Maintenance costs and initial costs will neuter the gains you're looking for if you don't put some miles and time on the vehicle. Diesels need to roll down the road, not tinker in town.

Hey thanks guys, this helps a lot. Really quick though, I have a YouTube link I want to share, I want you guys to tell me if it's legit.... YouTube - Does Hydrogen On Demand Really Work?. Oh, and maverick, I'm sorry if took it that way, I was just getting my facts straight. I was just being over cautious about making a $100 investment.....

Cheapest, most effective way to increase mileage, tires aired up and install a vacuum gauge. It'll keep your foot out of the throttle more than you think. Once in a while I'll monitor it through my phone and start obsessing over it. At some point I come to the realization that the mileage in these trucks blows. Then I shut it down and move on with my day.

The only tip that really works I guess is keep the speed at or below 65, stay up to date on maintenance and tires aired up properly. And watch mythbusters; the HHO crap, the 200 mpg carburetor, magic spark plugs and all other stuff has been dealt with.
