Interesting problem.

I have a 97 F250 that I just got. It runs great all 100% stock, but now the battery light comes on and when I step on the accelerator pedal the battery light goes out. as soon as I let up it comes back on. It also flickers off and on.

Check the connector / wiring on the alternator for an intermittent open.

Check the plug on top of the alt. and all battery connections

the one wire plug may have the heater hose laying on top of it, rubbing it. thats what happened to mine.
