Thanks Jose that was some great information. I'll give mine the broom test in the morning ( the wife just got back with the broom.)
Seriously I think mine is working OK, it has a little friction when I try to turn it. I remember trying to turn it a couple of months ago and it seemed to be as you describe.

So easy to work on the truck now.

Talyn, I think I remember when you took the fan off last fall or winter. How is it working for you now that the weather has warmed up. Can you tow without watching the temp gauge all the time? I imagine your had to go with a more accurate temp gauge because the stock on really won't tell you much.

Mine does Rich, what ever my aux gauge says, the stock gauge agrees with it. Thru the years I have heard that the stock gauge is worthless, I must have gotten a good one.

My aux gauge runs from 205* to 220*, yes, that is to hot. On my list of 'to do's' is to put the stock thermostat back in. The stock gauge runs from about a 1/3 over from the left to straight up and down. I would have to go look to see what letters that is. When I'm at 220* and straight up and down I'm on a hard pull.

I run about 210-213 on the highway, and it actually cools off when sitting still. That surprised me, but the scan gauge gives you good info.
I pulled 10k yesterday and my truck actually ran cooler with the bigger load.
On another note, my goose neck hitch is a little loose.
In the heat down here, the most i've seen on the highway was 215 running 70 in 90+ weather.
One thing to remember about my cooling system is it has some major leaks and is not running 100%
My radiator has 3 or 4 leaks in it.
The bypass filter and SCA charge seem to really help though.

I went to all the trouble to build a oil cooler but left in my 203*??? Sometimes I wonder about my self, LOL. I don't think I would try it without the clutch. I've read on here years ago its a 15-20 hp gain without it which I find hard to believe. That sucker is heavy though!!
