Flatbed
any advice or pointers? i really dont know anything about this but my current bed is completely rusted out and one of the bed side rails is on the verge of falling off.
Can be bought fairly cheap where I live, go out in the country side and ck around some tractor supply or dealerships that do a chassis only and then offer a flat bed install option. Find out where they get there's or ask around the local feed store.....
You can get a all steel HD headache rack and under bed storage boxes, usually in front of the axle and one on each side. Sometimes it takes a little modifying to get the filler neck to work but its manageable.
Most are universal in size and are some what a bolt on deal for newer trucks. Almost any welding shop can attach the brackets to make it a bolt on deal for our older rigs.
The bottom pic is the top pic bed after it was taken off, and I want at least least 5 to 8 HUNDRED FOR IT. Cause its like new and has the cover plate for the gooseneck trailer ball.
Bottom deal I GET CHEAPER INSURSANCE WITH A FLAT BED AND FARM TAGS.
the bad? the damn bed weighs like 600 lbs. Its way overbuilt for a 1/2 ton truck.
Plus mine has box tubs they welded in for skinny *** tires, and they don't work at all with pretty much any tire. I even have a set of stock 15's with like 29 or 30" tires on them and they rub the outside of the box. Hopefully they won't rub after my lift is on, or I'll have to cut up the bed and either make larger tubs or more likely just raise the edges up like the 5th bed down in that row of pics.
