body question

So I am starting on a complete restore on my 79 ford f-150. And I started doing some body work while I have the cab off the frame. The roof of the cab seems to be really flimsy and pops right above the driver and passenger. Is this normal for our trucks.

No I do not think Ford built them to do that, with the headliner down do you have a stiffener bracket in the middle? about Inline with the visor pin bracket above the r/v mirror.

And the other end is attached to the inner cab lip at the interior dome light? And you should have some lwt filler material, sheets of square like moby.dynamat stuff?

I looked and there is a brace right in the middle. But it is on each side of the brace that it does it. I did think about putting on some dynamat on the roof to see if that would help

Worse case hit the jy and get you 2 more of those middle braces one for each side and put a little dynamat between the brace and the actual roof.

If you are using the factory material cardboard headliner it can't handle much downward force, some have a piece of velcro in the middle or have the one screw in the middle.

Yes it flimsy, Depending on which model you have some are empty no sound deadener and other like a lariat are packed with sound deadener tar pads and the center bar is glued with seam sealer....But ya they are kinda soft you cant even kneel on them.
