Awesome truck man. Though I don't think you can call that a V10 engine swap, it's more like you dressed a V10 with an F150. To say that was a tight fit would be understating it

LOL, thanks. I had to notch the idler arm bracket because the A/C compressor hit and of course convert to electric fans. I have 1/2" between the fans and radiator, and a 1/2" between the IAC and firewall and about an inch between the front driveshaft and exhaust.

That v10 f150 is wild....props to you for something different!

I've owned my V10 for just under a month now. My dad has owned his 01 V10 for a couple years and his is pushing 250k. Our opinions are the same on the V10 so basically take this as 2 people's opinions....

Mines 3v his is 2v

The power his has is almost the same as mine. He's never had a plug blow out. He changes his oil every 3,000. He pulls a 28 ft Keystone Laredo 5th wheel camper with a slide out, and says it pulls like a dream. Mine hauls my bronco around. I pull a 24 ft bumper trailer that's steel framed with wood, dual axle with no trailer brakes. I don't even feel the trailer back there when I pull. All my truck has done to it now is a kn drop in and a single in dual out flow master 40. We both run 285/70/17 tires except his are at mine are mt. His has 373 ls rear end mine is 410 ls rear. I've drove and pulled with diesels, 7.3,6.0,5.9 cummins and 6.7 cummins. I don't really see a huge difference in power when towing what I normally tow. Ya the diesel may get a slight better fuel mileage but the maintenance is the difference for me. In every aspect, the v10 will do what I want it to do, and for my dad. We bought pickup trucks, not a Prius so fuel mileage shouldn't be in anyone's equation when it comes to a pickup IMO! The sticker price difference is anther thing, my dad bought his 01 off the lot for $5000 (ccsb xlt) I bought my 05 (ccsb lariat) for $12,000. The same dealer and most around here have 7.3 diesels priced $12,000 and up that aren't even ccsb or are beat up. I'm not saying all, but it seems most people buy a diesel and neglect t cause they can't afford the maintenance

And not to mention the cost of some parts I.e. turbos, oil coolers, injectors, fuel pumps, oil pumps, etc are more expensive. A lot of my buddies own diesels, and it seems that when ya get one you want more power, so the added cost of mods are more expensive. I am in no way dissing diesels, I love them personally. But I have no justification to own one. To the OP, do what feels best for you, and will do what suits your needs.

With a 1.9 TDI swap, you can rock that 40mpg truck in all of its 90hp/156torque glory all day long.

And if you notice the asking price on this one, probably a little meth or coke or something...
OK, let me a little more specific, there is no way on God's Green Earth any 3/4 ton or larger truck is going to get 40 mpg with any diesel engine. Go ahead and search the far corners of the internet or tell about your bosses brother's neighbor's cousin who had a (fill in the blank) that got 40 mpg running on filtered soy milk and Raisin Bran. I work with a guy who claims his stock 7.3 gets 25 mpg. I promise it does not, but jeez, how do you prove it one way or the other? If telling his lie so often that even he believes it makes him feel better, great, but don't expect me to believe it. Hey, my V10 once got 16.7 mpg on the nearly-all-downhill run from Boomtown, Nevada to Marysville, Ca but I don't go around telling everyone my V10 gets 16+ mpg. That would be an outright lie no matter how you look at it. My own Dad claims his 5.9 Cummins Dodge got 22+ mpg, yet when I drove it for a week, it got a best of 18 mpg. While that's still a hell of a lot better than my V10 gets on the same commute, it's not enough to sway my choice of truck. Anyone who buys a V10 needs to know right up front they don't get great mileage when compared to modern diesels, but for what they are they do alright. My grandfather bought a brand-new '69 F100 4x4 with a 360. It drove like a truck, rode like a truck and had zero creature comforts seated two (three if they were in love) and maybe 150 rear wheel ponies on it's very best day. It also got about 10 mpg unloaded. Hell, my V10 crew cab will get that at 80 mph uphill with 6 guys riding in style and the stereo and A/C blowing! Buy what you want but please don't pass on outright lies about it getting the same mpg as a Prius...

Honestly, I'd take a gasser over a diesel just because the diesel smell gives me a headache. I do have a dream of building a soot monster diesel though. I love boost - both on cars and motorcycles!

For your farm use case, I think the V10 is a better choice than a diesel.

The best calculation I've ever seen of fuel mileage for diesel was out of my buddies 99 7.3. Reg cab long bed. Nothing in the bed at all and heavily modded. He drove it in the mos respectable manner he could for 4 tanks of fuel and averaged 22-25 mpg with about 90% highway at 55 mph and the cruise on. No A/C or windows down. Tried every possible myth method to keep his fuel mileage up.
