He said he would get it for me, he is basically saying verbatem what you guys have said. He told me we would flush the hell out of it clean her up and replace her *****! LoL
I had a guy today tell me to run sea foam through it. While i know its good for the fuel won't it break down the oil? I've heard you only do that right before you change the oil because it breaks it down quite a bit.
OK it hit 96 degrees today. My EOT was 225 and my ECT made it to 190, I am doing the above stated work this Sat, do i need to worry about driving it until then? I am wondering if the thermostat is stuck open.

If you ect only reaches 190-194 and you cant get it higher your oil cooler is very clogged. Dont tow and you will be fine as 225 eot wont hurt anything.

I assume you have never flushed the oil cooler?
He will Burnup his EGR Cooler
Even with say a truck that has an EGR Deleate and a Delta of 30+ degrees You still need to Service the Oil Cooler
225* EOT would be fine by itself Oil ALONE will withstand that temp but thats just not the case more comes into play than that
Its also been brought up by a Tech that with the Coolant flow in the Oil Cooler Backed up that will Hinder Proper Coolant flow and as a result theres a Possibility of Hot Spots threwout the Moter

interesting
I ran my truck for several thousand miles with EOT in the 220-235 range not towing and 245-270 range towing with no effects to the EGR cooler. (ECT always stayed in the 188-194 range)
I was working (more like threatening to sue!) with my warranty company and ford dealership the entire time to get the truck repaired. I kept expecting the truck to reach some point of failure, but it never came even at 274 eot.
I am a pro at flushing oil coolers in under an hour, and with my truck I had decent success with lowering temps by flushing the cooler in the truck. ( I could get the truck back to within 15 degree delta of EOT/ECT for a couple hundred miles) then it would clog up on me again. My truck had an issue with the engine block flaking off in the coolant passages and the flakes filled my heater cores and oil coolers (2 installed by the dealer) before we got to the point of replacing the engine.
Now I have a new long block, studs, EGR delete, etc and I track EOT, ECT, EGT's every time I pull.

Some people can run across a freeway and not get hit, others aren't so lucky. What are the odds however?
