or Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. That was pretty cool (no un intended) hiking down undereground in the cavern. It was beautiful natural wonder; the good news is they have elevators for the ride back up!

be safe out there!

Ya it'll be cool...not too much into the UFO stuff but I don't mind checkin out stuff.

I've always wanted to stop at that jerky place that I've seen on my way back from vegas

We made the the trip from Central California to Corpus Christi Texas in our farily new to us Super Duty (yes I know this should be in the Super Duty Forum but we started here). We had about 1600 pounds of stuff in the bed, no trailer this time. The truck rode sweet with the load, we averaged 12.91 mpg for 1702 miles so far, averaging 75-80 mph in the posted speed limits of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. I'm thinking we did good. The EOT/ECT delta for the 6.0 liter engine remained 6-9 degrees depending on speed in 100 plus ambient temperatures most of the way. Overall we are pretty happy with this, the truck ran flawlessly, we rode in comfort and we got to our destination without issue.

Hope you all get to take a safe, uneventful road trip this summer in your Ford, whether it's your Excursion, Super Duty, Super Crew, what ever Ford branded product you drive. Happy Motoring.

Sounds great!!! and thanks, and yes hope everyone has an eventful...and nothing "unexpected" happens haha

Also can anyone let me know how the weather has been through Utah, lower Wyoming, and Nebraska?

I've heard a bunch lately about tornado's, hail, and wildfires a lot.

And on the route home goin back through Nebraska for a little, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

Got my new tires!!!

Went from these BFG A/T 285/75R16 D-Rated, very good, long lasting tire overall (lasted a little over 50k miles), but would definitely squish too much with our toybox attached.

From these:

To these

These are the Toyo M/T's same size as the bfg's LT285/75R16 however these are now E-rated and have 1/16th" more tread depth.

Got them at the local Allen Tire Co for $258 each, and they did free nitrogen inflation, balancing, used a coupon from online and got $10 off the alignment, and they offer free lifetime balancing, rotation, and repair if something happens. Definitely happy

Also this might be one of our stops for lunch.....saw it on an episode of Triple D

Very SMART move going back to E rated tires on this beast...especially since you TOW.

I believe there was a recall early on for Ex owners....Ford initially shipped Ex's with D rated tires...they realized their mistake...as you noticed the added "squish" of D sidewalls over the proper E rated tires for this beast!

I've towed 10's of thousands of miles with the stock 265/75/16 E rated tires and have had no complaints and our TT goes 9000#'s loaded...

There sure is a lot of meat on those beasts!...

We'll have to get together one of these weeks when I'm out there...I'm there every other week and stay right by Disney at the Embassy Suites...I'll be there tomorrow night in fact!

That's cool, do you mind me asking what you do?

I'm about 15 mins away from DLand on a good traffic day...I'm more near North OC...in between the hub of where the 605 is between the 405 and 91...just down the street from Knott's.

So heading out on our trip tomorrow. I'll try to update once we're at our nightly hotel. I'll also be able to give a better update on my new tires after they get about 3k miles on them after this trip.

All you folks in the midwest, look out haha.

After getting the new tires yesterday, had to get her washed today too

Love the stuffed wheel well look, and they don't stick out too far either

The company I work for makes weather sensors for NASA satellites...we've been in that business since the 70's...we have lots of sensors flying in space...we're building the next gen geostationary sensor right now and I have multiple critical suppliers out there in your neck of the woods!

I head over to the Knott's area about once when I'm out there to hit Portillo's (Italian beef/hot dog place right infront of Walmart there)...so I typically am in your area at least for lunch!

Have a SAFE trip!...I'm getting on a plane headed your way in a couple of hours...

Wooo that's cool, is Fastenal one of your suppliers for anything? I know they are over near dland, they sponsored all our hardware this year for my SAE club at school. (pretty sure they did it on disneys tab though cuz all the boxes had disney logos on them haha).

Ya I know portillos, I'm a regular there on yelp, and I'm the duchess of the Krikorian movie theater there at the Buena Park mall

On another note, this morning before we left my battery died. We didn't get a new one and just swamped in the Optima Red top from my dads F-250.

Since the swap the check engine light came on and think there might me a little short or something. My dad flashes his lights at someone who cut us off and all of a sudden when he did that, the double din kenwood gps(touchscreen) dimmed and it was crazy but the speedometer tweaked out too. We were goin about 60, then the needle jumped downto 40ish and back up to our speed.

Anyone know what it could be? And maybe suggest a few different places incase we need to stop. Our main route is takin the 15 all the way to the 80. But today we are only going to Cedar City, Ut. We're in baker, ca now and averaging 60ish. Right now no other real problems so my dads just keeping an eye on everything.

Could be the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on top of the differential causing the speedometer to foul up.
