Rear drum brakes won't go back on

Rear drum brakes won't go back on
77f100 2wd
I replaced brake cylinder after I found a stripped bleeder valve on right rear (replaced both rear cylinders). The problem is that I can't get the drums back on.
Adjusting screw is all the way in but can't get drums on. When I took out adjusting screw the drum went on. Top of shoes seem to be seated correctly. Any troubleshooting suggestions are greatly appreciated.
After looking at other threads, common issues that cause the drum not to go back on is
1. Adjusting screw not fully in
2. Brake cylinder pistons not in causing shoes to push out
For 1, the adjusting screw is fully in and for 2, the pads look like they are fully seated.
Please help me figure out how to get the drums back on. Thanks

I installed the adjuster in the wrong spot. I put it on the tips of the brake shoes instead of up a bit where the grooves are perpendicular to the ground. I'm an idiot. I will never make that mistake again though. Drums slid right back on and the tires are back on the truck.
thanks for your help.
