I have a short bed and go past 90 degrees with our Pinnacle no problem. No slider...I use the B&W companion hitch with their turnoverball system. Love it.
Same / Same. I have the Companion as high and far back as it will go and works great. Can go a bit past 90. It's close though. If I'm not on level ground I have to be careful.
Interesting. I guess the question is, how long is the overhang in the bed? If I end up towing a gooseneck, it would be a race car trailer and they seem to have longer front overhangs than say the camper pictured above.
You are going to need to check specific trailers for actual results. My 5th wheel has a nice projected Pin box and it is designed to be pulled by both SB and LB trucks. Some goosenecks are as well. Good luck...
Are you using a sliding hitch for your camper? I'm just wondering how you make turns with the short bed and it doesn't hit the cab's rear window.
I ask because I too have a CC short bed and my one buddy makes fun of me all the time telling me that unless I have a sliding hitch, I can't tow a gooseneck trailer due to the need to make tight turns.
The entire setup looks nice though!
I had a slider in my 5.5' F150 and never had to use it. Since then I sold the slider and have used my Lil' Rocker hitch in both of my SDs. With most fivers coming with an extended pin box and rounded corners there is no reason for a slider anymore, IMO. 2 friends have them and the only time they've used them is when they were new to test them out.
Thanks...we really like this fiver. So much so I sold my 2010 and bought this 2013 as they added a 3rd slide and some other little changes that really makes it better for us.
I really got the bug this past weekend to get a fiver. The 23 foot Coyote is too small. We catch grief from others about "camping" with A/C,shower, etc. but I pay the bill and it is what provides me relaxation and enjoyment on my days off. You want to sweat, stink, fold in the rain? Have at it. To me, nothing like showering off bug spray and sweat, and hopping onto the cool sheets with the A/C blowing when it's 95 out. And, firing up the Keureg in the morning while listening to Prime Country under the awning.
I'm with you wagon. It's one of the most economical ways to travel, relax, or have a nice vacation. I love our fifth wheel, went from a 28' travel trailer to a 34' fifth wheel, kids bunkhouse/bedroom is above the hitch, master bed is in the back, kids have their own 1/2 bath in front too.
Only thing I hate is losing the truck bed while driving so I had to build a deck to go on the rear bumper. I might have to buy a bike rack for the roof of the truck too, they are expensive!
Nice set up Biggziff. Matches really nice and I am sure gets some good looks. I think I saw you camping at Walmart. Up for McDonalds, shopping at Walmart and back to the camping rig to watch satellite tv and really roughing it. Hope you brought a few of those wilderness survival books, just in case.
Here is a quick story. I took a city friend camping a few years ago out in the bush. I mean back in the bush, miles from anything but mother nature. He asked what to bring since he isn't a back camper type. So I told him I have the canoe, fishing stuff and he can bring his clothes, bug spray, and some other suggestions, including some ideas for food back there. Well, we get all the way back there in mother nature and set up camp. While I set up the tent and campsite he is unpacking. I notice he has this box so I go over to take a look. He brought Betty Crocker cake mix with him. So I casually asked him, "Uh and what are you going to do with this?" He replied, "Bake a cake." I said "Do you see a stove or oven around here?" He said he thought he might "build one." Well, he took the Betty Crocker Cake Mix home a few days later and I still shake my head. I guess he baked the cake back in the city.
"we went camping" ...nope! We are camping! Just got back from watching some alligators and now cooking some smores over the campfire. This is the whole reason I bought this truck.

Walmart is a favorite of ours....TGI Fridays, Taco Bell and Barnes and Nobles coffee shops all within easy walking!
We just got back from camping, had fun as always. The 6.7 did 11.2 mpg for the round-trip. Not super due to lots of stop and go but way better than my old truck at 6 mpg. Night and day contrast too is the overall tow experience.
