does anyone know if the 2012 f250, 6.2L truck has a new transmission versus the 2011 model? I'm in a battle with a michigan dealer about their poor service in putting in a new transmission case and how long it's taking. Not only did they not inventory the parts that they ordered which, they have now found didn't contain all the parts it should have, but they are telling me that this 2012 F250 has a new transmission which they've not dealt with before. I was originally told it would take 15 hours of labor to take out the old transmission case and put in the new one but we are now into day two and at best they are looking at having it done sometime Friday which would make it a 4 day job.
thanks. I was pretty sure that was the case which goes to the question of this dealership thinking this is something new to them WHICH tends to make me believe or suspect that this person they have anointed as being such a hot shot trans mechanic may just not know as much as everyone thinks....which is a scary thought!
I find that dealerships are fine for routine work, but anything that requires a higher skill set will best be found at a successful independent shop. The best mechanics can earn higher wages and better work conditions at indepent shops. That's why we love capitalism; better choices and better service and freedom to choose. But when you're on factory warranty work you may be a slave to the dealership; sometimes you luck out, but most of the times I suffer through it.
