Dead RV-Tips for replacing fuel pump?

Hi guys. Love this forum on the Aerostar side, first try on this one. I have a RV on the 2002 E 450 with the v10 chassis. It sat around and now no longer starts. Motor turns, pump relay ok, new fuel filter, cant hear anything from the fuel pump. Didn't check the fp regulator (don't know how either) No pressure at the schrader valve. The tank is behind the axle. I have some room underneath, but it doesn't seem like enough to drop the tank and get access to the fuel pump to me. I want to know the recommended brand of fuel pump, (I sure dont want to drop the tank again!) is it separate from the hanger assembly or part of it? I cant tell on the AZ and oreally website, and their counter people dont know a thing about it. I really dont want to get the whole thing towed to a Ford Trucks Dealer. Also, I cant see anyway to hold the nut up on the frame, except to stick a wrench in there blind. Any info/tips will be greatly appreciated. I'll keep you posted on my progress.....

Well, I'll post to keep this at the top, but my experience with mine would be different as it didn't have a fuel pump in the tank. If it did, I'm just forgetting. I know I was able to drop the back of the tank and get the sender clear out of the tank. I had thought of cutting a hole in the floor.

Thanks. I may have enough room to go out the back. I know I have at least ten gallons of gas still in the tank. I'm going to try to tap the tank to free up the pump. If the motor starts, then at least I can drive up a small ramp to get more clearance. Maybe I'll drive around the block for an hour to burn up some fuel too. Another option is to try and raise it up with a jack. An RV is pretty heavy though, I will definitely have to upgrade my jack. Plus, I'm parked right next to a building and don't know how much I can lean to one side. I'll try all this after the weekend. Any other suggestions are welcome! thanks

check along the frame. I dont know for sure but i know the 90's f150's had fuel pump half way from tank to engine along the frame. just hope it doesn't send you on a wild goose chase!

Tried the "mallet of persuasion" technique to no avail. I seem to have plenty of room under the rear of the RV to drop the tank. I hope I haven't overlooked anything before replacing the fuel pump. Relay good. New filter, installed properly- check. Emergency fuel pump cut off -check. No pressure at rail no pump noise when key is turned on. No rust on any of the bolts holding the tank in place.

if you can reach the wire connector at the pump (before removal), you might want to pull it off and test for power there.
i've changed fuel pumps in tanks with all different amounts of fuel inside, one while dead full. the best method is to start with the truck raised to a height you can comfortably work under it, and plan to support the tank with a floor jack. have a board on top of the jack to avoid tank damage (scratch and dent)
for working under the rear of my E350, i put a floor jack under the hitch reciever and lift until the suspension is most of the way extended, but tires still on dirt, then put my monster jack stands under the frame.
