Check Engine Light/Code P1538
Check Engine light came on. Stopped at Auto Zone where they put on a hand held computer. Code came up P1538. Auto Zone employee did not have description of what code means.
Does anyone know the description for this code.
I have a 1997 F150 V6 4.2 Liter 2wd.

Check Engine Light/Code P1538
I refers to a problem with the IMRC (INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL). It is located in the center and at the rear of the intake on a 4.2, probably very hard to see. The manual claims that the lower intake manifold has to be removed to service the IMRC. Before I did that i would see if I could reach it and maybe move the levers so they will close. The ones I have fixed on cars so far all I had to do was move the linkage so it was no longer stuck open and they have not returned with the same problem.
