New engine break in procedures

I know this has been discussed before, but someone brought this to my attention and I wasn't really sure what to say. From what I understand, you are supposed to immediately bring rpms up to around 2500 rpms and hold it steady for approximately 20 minutes. What about seating the rings? Will using this procedure hurt/prevent the rings from seating properly? Thanks

Yes....2000 to 2500 rpm. No, this will not prevent any component from properly seat- it's basically required to ensure the components properly seat. BTW- Rings (depending on material) can take anywhere from 300 to 1000 miles to fully seat.

agreed^ also from my experiance drive it farly hard after that 20 min break in, that seems to help the rings "dig their grooves" better in the cilinder wall. not crazy rpms jusp put load on the moter untill u get to whatever the speed limit is
