Are they noticeably different than what the truck came with? I was wondering if I should put those heavy duty load assist type shocks or just the regular replacements.
They will give you the numbers for your exact vehicle specs. Then you can search Amazon for an excellent price. I got 4 for my F-350 for $160.00. They wanted $500.00 installed locally. Good luck!
Bilstien the last shocks you will ever buy. not that much more than Monroecraptastic.
I get the bilsteins warrantied about once a year for leaking, about every second year I have to replace or repair a shock mount. this truck is mostly highway driven and driven nicely, about 10,000 miles a year.
in short I will never pay money for bilstein shocks again.
If I were towing or hauling some heavy weight, I would want something stiffer than the monroematics. I have those on my 02, as I don't do either of those very much. Bilsteins are on my 97 work truck. A very good stiff shock. Don't know that I would want them on a daily driver if I wanted a smoother ride. I have monroe magnums on my 99 work truck. I think the Bilsteins would be better for it though. Curious about the Rancho's though. I will likely give them a try on my next shock purchase.
Shocks do not support more wieght.
Shocks dampen springs.
Carry big loads get stiffer springs or air bags
In my opinion Bilstien is the best bang for the buck for our trucks. If I coudl get Konis I would but 400 bucks a corner for a street driven truck is silly.

I know shocks don't support the load. What I was referring to was a heavily loaded truck and/or trailer would benefit more with a stiff shock over a mild resistance shock. Different shocks for different applications. Also, what one person likes may vary greatly for another person even on the same application.
Yeah the circle track shock. I had them on my 914 pictured in the avatar. Drove it on the street as well as the autocross and road race courses. Damn fine shock. you can get them on ebay for cheap in any sort of valving you think you might need. and they come in all different lengths so figure out what you want and start searching.
