You should see the shock debates on the road race forums, Double adjustable Penske vs 28 series Koni or the all mighty Moton. about $1000.00 per shock.

I'll definitely ask the guys as Powerstroke Magic their opinions on these Bilstiens, I'm sure they have experience with them. And if they are all that much better than I have no problems buying them, but again, no towing and no offroading outside of a few construction sites and a few fields from time to time. Pretty much just want OEM spec'd energy asborbers and dissipaters.

Thanks everyone.

I won't be racing, towing or offroading.

I think Tenneco makes the OE shocks for Ford Motor Company. They also own Rancho and Monroe. My OE shocks lasted 200,000 miles. Doesn't take an expert to put 2 and 2 together. But then again, more is always better isn't it?

Towing does not require any different shock than anything other than what is required for the spring of the truck.

Match the shock to the spring rate.

Off road I think entry level is the FOX shock but there are certainly no limits if you have the funds. long travel and external resevoir.

Not true. Around town you might want a soft shock, but with a 15,000lb trailer you dont want it to bounce 3 times, you want the shocks to be stiff and arrest the bouncing immediately. This is why Rancho 9000s have the adjustment *****.

No that's not why. most ***** on shocks are just cool and fun to fiddle with.

The adjuster only controls rebound and most adjusters do a poor job of tuning anything.
What you are getting is a shock that can keep the suspension "tied down" or as you put it arrested movement.

But as stated above by the OP it's just a damn shock, not brain surgery.

One thing to be aware of is some our trucks are not lifted and the standard F250 shock from Bilstien is to long.

Warrantee is good and they do stand behind them no matter what we do to them.
I only do that once a year (the load in the signature) and I take it easy, (have to keep waiting for my father with his dodge cummins, he can't keep up) but even before I started getting my hay in Colorado I still had at least 2 of the 4 bilstien shocks blow every year. I am at the point where I will warranty them over and over just so they might someday re engineer them.
so are you implying that 21,000 might be too much weight for an F250?

I would say 21,000lbs is a little overboard for an F-250!! But I know people that do that and more all the time and do just fine!

As I think I stated earlier perhaps in a different way, you can take 2 people and put them in the exact same truck, and one will like the ride, while the other will not. So, with that in mind, it is best to try and figure out what you want in a ride before you buy the shock. As it has been made quite obvious here, what one man likes, is another mans piece of crap. These are just opinions. Like I said, do your own research.
