Got a question, I am building a 302 for a 1984 f150 and I was wondering if anyone knows if the distributer is a single or dual vacuum advance?? Its an orginal 76 block and heads... thanks tony
Unless you are going to hook the original carb up, with all the original vacuum lines and emissions stuff, I would just get a single vacuum advance unit.
These two diagrams show a single line to the distributor for 1984.

Alright.. I guess I have heard that before but haven't experianced it.. I think I will go with no advance and give it a try.. thanks
For all that is holly... Dont give up on that advance..... It is a good thing to have.... I still havent given up on mine..... I still want one... But if it runs without it for now then it will get me to the auto parts store and back so I can fix whatever problem is wrong, so I Can use the advacne......
Racerdave- try adjusting the vacuum advance. There should be a small allen-head screw accessible through the vacuum port. Yours might be set a little too sensative.
I have tryed everything, even replaced a good vacuum canister to see if mine was messed up.... I have gone from stiff'est and moved it 1/2 turn and tryed it and 1/2 turn all the way to softest, and still ran the same.... I am replacing the dizzy tomarrow so I will see if that fix's anything. I will keep you all up to date!
