'89 460 Alternator
Hey all, I have a problem with my alternator on my '89 F250 4x4 with the 7.5L. It has developed a squeel at above 1k rpms, sounds fine at idle. I'm about 99% sure its the alternator. It charges fine but I'm thinking the bearings are going, so I was going to pull it out and take it to my local Autozone and have it tested out of the truck to be sure, but ran into a problem. The charge plug seams to be hard wired into the back of the alternator itself, I couldn't find any obvious way to remove it like the regulator plug. The truck is all original, with 93k original verified miles, so I wouldn't be surprised if its the original alternator. Has anybody ever seen this before? My Chilton's manual wasn't any help at all.
