clutch

I have the engine in and no problems with the stock manifolds, I am running short on clearance though for all the clutch pedal linkages, doing a little reading on-line and it would seem the way to go would be either a hydraulic clutch set-up or a cable set-up.

Im leaning toward the cable set-up as it would seem cheaper and would prob. work just as well as hydraulic but knowing next to nothing about either set-up I am hoping that someone here could give me advice on the pros and cons of either set-up and maybe even an idea of what either of these systems might cost.

I guess that either system requires a special throwout bearing? Is that correct? Would Napa carry a kit that would give me everything I need?
Thanks

If you look at the cable set up, it has to pull on the throwout arm, vs. push on it. So it has to snake around to the back side, or you need an arm with the pivot on the opposite side of the bell.

The Mustang is set up to pull, with the pivot on the opposite side. Pretty good pics here:

Somewhere I saw a bunch of pics of a guy doing the cable to pull from behind in an early Econoline. I can't find that right now.

As for a hydraulic set up, you could adapt one from the '57 & up, not sure how far, Ford F and C series trucks.

Your pedals go down through the floor though, don't they?
