I agree it is loud but i don't use it often enough to be bothered by it. Now there are times I am stuck in rush hour traffic with the windshield wipers on low and notice how loud the wiper motor is. I'd like that to be quieted down but it still is a minor gripe.
It used to be, that if you had a tow package, a heavy duty flasher unit was installed to handle the extra amperage that is required to run extra turn signals when you have a trailer attached. The HD flasher was always louder than a standard flasher. Perhaps Ford has just gone to a HD flasher unit on all of it's F-150's.
It's not the flasher that's loud, I took my gauge cluster out, disconnected the cluster, turned the key on, turned on signal, no noise, very quiet! The noise must be a module in the gauge cluster.
Modern vechicles do not use flashers anymore. Since about 1995 most vehicles utilize the GEM module to control the flash rate of the turn signals and hazard, no more thermal flashers. The noise is generated by the module also, and I also have a Lariat and my signal noise is not that loud. Maybe the dealer can connect to the GEM module and see if there is a volume setting they can change. GEM is the Generic Electronic Module.
I took my cluster out again to look at the back side of the cluster, there is a speaker on the drivers side of the cluster, I took mine apart and took the speaker out. Signals work fine, no noise. When you look at back-side of the cluster there is a speaker down in a hole, it is black, about an 1 1/4 inch, you could put something in there to muffle it If you didn't want to take it out.
