Pyro gauge

I just installed a pyro in my 93 7.3 na.I put the probe in the y pipe.In 4 gear running 2500 rpm it gets up to about 850 with no load.I was wondering if this is normal if not what is the normal exhaust temp???

I don't know about normal, but location of the probe can make a big difference. I know I hit over 1000 when pushing my turboed 93 uphill with my fifth wheel regularly without problems. I believe you are O.K. up to about 1100 degrees, before you can start cooking piston soup! Do you have a coolant temp gauge, or are you using the dash gauge? If your coolant temp isn't running high then I would think 850 is not a problem.

Just mounted mine like 2 weeks ago. I'm in the manifold pretty much in front of #6. Empty and 3/4 throttle from a stop ill hit 1000 by the time I take my foot out of it at 65. Haven seen over 1150 yet. Crusing @ 60 empty I'm like 350. BTW that's 6.9 with c6 and 3.55 rear.
