Engine S/N is missing:

Well, the tag on the driver's side valve cover is gone. I have scrubbed, wire brushed, and cleaned the boss by the oil filter, and if there ever were any S/Ns, they are gone. Any place else to look?

Thx's, Fred

Are you looking to see if you have PMRs or forged rods?

It is SUPPOSED to be etched above/beside the fuel filter where the oil cooler mounts to the block...but I couldn't find either on my engine either.

The serial numbers are located on the pad that the oil filter/cooler mounts to. You may find that if you have rust there, they are very hard to find or read. The other thing I have found is the Brazil built engines had a much lighter etch/impression so they naturally are harder to see.

Here is a shot of mine.

Here is one with a Brazil S/N (5XXXXXX)
