SGII question

I have the SGII and a Garmin EcoRoute HD.
I would expect that if I have a VOM at the battery
that is not going to show the save voltage at the
SGII and a Garmin because of all the wire the what not
between the computer and the battery.

I would expect that the SGII and a Garmin
do show the same voltage and they do not.
The Garmin shows what I get wit ha VOM at the
battery and the SGII is about .5 volts lower

What gives?

Too top it off last night the SGII would not update
the EOT The ECT was at 179 and the EOT was stuck
at 111. I unplugged and reconnected the SGII. Then got a blank
EOT. This all corrected itself at shutdown and restart
after me short trip into the store. This really lowers my level of trust.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Sean

The Garman and the voltmeter directly read voltage. The SG is displaying the answers to questions it has asked the PCM through the data port. Completely different process and circuits. Sounds like the SG had a brain cramp. Could be the unit, or a poor connection/bad cable, or MUCH LESS likely the PCM or wiring of the truck. I would expect the volt meter and the SG to be close but not exact. If they were more than .2v or so different with the key on I would be suspicious.

Hi
The SGII is .5V low.
I did find what the freeze was or I think I did.
I have a Y cable for 2 ports. I removed the Y and
the SGII came back to keeping up to date.
The Garmin was in gauge mode. I thought that was reading what
the PCM was telling it.

I'll test things more this weekend when I install other parts.
I will be doing fuel filters.water drain, replacing the cap on the HMFC
(former owner used vise-grips on it) and the T-stat
I will also be testing fuel pressure while I am in there (don't know
if there is a blue spring)

I didn't realize what the Garman was, pretty cool! Quick look through the manual and no info on how it works tho. Are you using a preprogramed gauge or an x-gauge? I have this code for battery:

BAT 07E0221172 046205110672 3008 000100010000 BATTERY VOLTAGE

I haven't used it tho, I do watch these sometimes:

FICM Vehicle Power (Volts) (Should be 12 Volts, should not drop below 10.25 for more than 60 seconds, or 9.0 for 4 seconds. TSB 09-24-03)

TXD: 07E02209CE

RXF: 0462450906CE

RXD: 3010

MTH: 006401000000

NAM: FVP

KO=12.0 LI=14.0 HI=14.0 OR=10.5-15.5

FICM Logic Power (Volts) (Should be 12 volts)

TXD: 07E02209CF

RXF: 0462450906CF

RXD: 3010

MTH: 006401000000

NAM: FLP

I don't know of any problems with the SG being "off" except for when I don't type the codes in right

Hi,
Yes the Garmin is a cool thing.
I was using the pre-programed voltage
I am going to put my good VOM on it
when I do all that list of the need to do things
I'll also give that Xgauge coding a try and report back

Thanks

Well I did not get the Xgauge done today. I did check and the SGII is low
by 0.5 Volts vs the DMM at the battery.
I got half way done with my want to do list on the truck.
Changed the fuel filters and added the updated drain.
Dose the diesel ever stop dribbling ?
Top filter was out.
Thanks
Sean
