1999 F350 Parking Brake Spindle Nut Socket

can anyone give me a part number or manufacturer part number for the spindle nut socket that you use to remove the nut on the rear axle when one needs to replace the parking brake shoes? I see a lot of them for sale on ebay that say the fit Fords but I suspect a socket does not fit "all" Fords. I don't want to buy something that isn't the correct one.

I'm not sure what size it is, but if you visit your local Advance Auto, you can rent the kit and figure out the size if you want to buy it later. I think it's like $70.00, and you get your money back when you return it.

unfortunately we don't have Advance Auto in Oregon so I tried AutoZone and they loan out individual sockets for everything but the F250/350. I guess they figure there are so many that are going to need this socket that they want to sell them instead of loaning. I am going to try the 3 other parts stores near me to see if they might loan them.

hub nut socket

I have an '02 F-350 and I got the hub nut socket from Freedom Racing, (American-made Automotive Specialty Tools) , their part # 205-282, used, (looked brand new to me) for about $43 plus shipping. Works like it is supposed to. There's also a link somewhere on this site, with pictures, that goes through the entire parking brake repair procedure. I replaced the backing plates while I was at it. All parts came from Rock Auto.

thanks for the info, I will check it out. I am certainly going to look at the backing plates when I get that far. My truck spent the first half of its life in Utah and the last half in Oregon so it will be interesting to see what condition they are in.
