Pitman Arm Removal?

Is there an easier way to get this off? I got the biggest pitman arm puller oreilly's had but it is to small. Do I need to get the separator style one?

Can I just use a pulley puller?

I used lots of PB Blaster and a gear puller.

Btw, the installation torque for its nut is like 200 ft.lbs. I marked mine with a bright yellow paint line cuz it came loose a couple of times. Whoa.

Yes, whatever works best. I had one that I bought at AZ some years ago that was too big when I did mine. I ended up buying a different, smaller one at NAPA. It was the next expensive one, I believe. I also have the separator style one.

4" 3 arm gear puller and PB blaster it for a while, torque it (the puller) down and tap around the edge with a punch. Not to crazy so you do not jack a output seal.

A 3 arm gives a more even pull, and do not get under it cause it will come off with a bang ='s ouch.

Also can maybe get a pickle fork in there? For ah....motivation.

Well we got if off with a air hammer. One little hit on each side and it came right off. Now with the steering box replaced I can keep it in the middle of my lane. Guess I will have to torque it a little more.

Good for you. Sometimes it's easier than others. Sometimes you just have to walk away for a while, and come back to it later, with a fresh mind.

Turn the wheel so the arm sticks out and a few whacks with a 4lb sledge. PB Blaster never hurts.
