Powerking tires, Super traction and premium traction

I looked for a tire/wheels section but couldn't find it, so forgive me if I over looked it.

Anyway: A friend of mine was telling me about these powerking tires, that are really cheap. And kinda like a old military tire.

Premium traction

Super traction

Has anyone run these tires? Also the biggest size they offer in the "light truck" tires is 35.5", can I run a "medium truck" tire? I am wanting 38" tires.

8.25-20 Power King Traction - m. e. MILLER tire

My F250 came with the premium traction "35s" when I bought it. They aren't all that cheap from what I've seen. Something like $265 a piece for mine when I looked them up. They are a bias ply tire, so they're real hard and noisy on the road. They look pretty cool and they clear my fender wells without a lift but they rub the front leafs at full lockup. I wouldn't get them unless they were a smokin deal and you are doing mainly off-roading.

That tire design is nearly 50 years old. Tire technology has come so far in the recent years, I would put those on my truck if they were free

Thanks for the replys!!

Well I was looking at some Groundhog radial tires, but they are not being produced anymore.

I found a website (in the link on the previous post) that sells the Super traction powerkings 8.25x20 (38.5", with a 20" rim) for $235 ea. Only thing is they are for a "medium truck".

I was looking at some Iroks 37x12.5xr15, they are $350 ea. Powerkings are over $100 cheaper

That one set looks similar to groundhawgs. The other set looks like the sport king a/t tires. Iroks are good tires. Some other brands out there make a lot cheaper tires. I wouldn't think that the premium traction tires would be so bad. But, Brad is right. That is easily 50 year old technology put into those.

If you are looking for cheap off road tires check out www.treadwright.com they are retreads (I know kinda scary) that is what my boss puts on the 2001 F450 wrecker that I drive and I am absolutely sold on them. The truck weighs in at 13000 lbs empty and I regularly put full sized trucks and vans behind it and these tires have never given me any grief. The winter traction is amazing as well went all winter long pulling people out of ditches and I didn't have to chain up once.

I am looking for a on road/off road tire. My truck is my DD. But it sounds like these tires are a no go. Lol.
