No Oil Please help

My Assemble and install over the weekend went very well. The truck runs well. Here is the problem I do not have any oil coming thru the push rods on the drivers side of the truck The other side is fine. Good oil pressure. I think this is from a missing galley plug does anyone have any thoughts.

Sorry to say, but you may have just nailed it right there. These plugs are hard to see in their dark little recess's on each side of the camshaft. This would sure be a good place to start looking.

My machinist left one of these out on my 460 rebuild a year ago, but fortunately I caught it while assembling the motor.

You don't have any oil running out through the bellhousing from the back plugs?

Superdave Thanks pretty sure thats what it is. Pulled the front cover off a 460 on the floor here just to be sure. I seen a stream of oil there when I primed my oil pump but didn't think much of it at the time. Learning experince I guess. The only good thing about it is she sounded really healthy. Headed out this evening to fix it.

No offense intended, You do know those plugs are a special plug that are tapered on the front, not just a standard flat faced, pipe plug. It has a different thread than a pipe plug also.

I discovered this when I was trying to locate one to replace my missing one. My macinist had already thrown the extra parts away by the time I found mine was missing.

They come in a freeze plug kit. When you put it in, you will want to use a non-hardening sealer on the threads. Suretac or permatex #2

Were you able to round one up?

You will see the difference between them and a pipe plug when you have both of them in your hand.

Superdave, Yes I got one from the machine shop that didn't put it in. They were real happy to give me a couple. I think that they were real happy I didn't raise hell with them and make them pay.I was the last person to see my block and I should have checked there work but I didn't so I'll eat this one as a learning experince. I can see the difference in the plugs. I hope we had enough oil and assembly lube that we don't lose the cam later on, It only ran about 20-30 minutes We will see ,going tonight to fix it and cycle it again then retorque all my bolts. I'll keep you informed Thanks

Glad to hear things are going good. Man you could get on 465 and go round and round till you break it in. Nah take that back, you would hit a construction zone I'm sure.

Sure, ask away when you want. Someone on here can always steer you the right way.

Hmmm, a Hoosier only post.
