Concealing a firearm

I was hoping that maybe someone on here would be able to give out some suggestions on possible hiding places for a concealed handgun. I have my permit and always carry my .38 snub nosed except for where I am not allowed to. I had recently got rid of my Jeep Commander which had an awesome spot right under the steering wheel. The panel underneath hinged down and I had a holster mounted to the inside of that compartment.

Anyways, I've been looking ALL over trying to find a good spot to leave it when I cant take it with me. It's a 01 Super Crew. Was wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem and has a suggestion. Don't wanna leave it under a seat or in the glovebox thats the first place thieves would look.

Thanks.

Zip tie a holster that has a retainer strap under the drivers seat. Run the zip ties around the seat springs. My snow plow truck has one under the center arm rest / console. I used Velcro on the holster and the console to fasten it. I have 2 speed loaders attached the same way next to the firearm. Just reach under and there it is. Pop the snap on the strap and it's in your hand. You can buy firearm safes too. You bolt them to the floor under the seat, behind it, etc. I have a S&W Chiefs Special with Pacmar grips. Been my go to for many years.

Two hidy-holes

I can't speak to any safety/legal ramifications of this...I assume you already know what is allowed, or will look it up, given your locale, but...

Two hidey-holes, if you're just trying to hide stuff, out of view.

- Passenger-side, on-top-of dash... you can pry out the "oval" fitting, that covers where the autolamp/DRL resister, etc...is located. Big oval shape in top of dash. It pries out...and there is a little space in there.

- Glove compartment... You'll notice, behind the actual swing out glove compartment (when it opens up), that there is some space back there, where you can fit something small, and the "glove compartment" can still close.

Its not fast but I keep mine under the center consile. My daughter doesnot know and if her friends are in the truck the chances of them finding are very slim. Open the center consile and the tray lifts out. I velcro the holster to the carpet to keep from sliding around.

When I am off road I usually remove it and stick it in the door panel for quicker access. It is a Sig P229 that I carry.

My wife carries her kel tec on the sun visor. But that gun is so lightweight it wont make it fold down. She just bought one of those CD carriers for the visor and the kel tec fits right in the zipper pocket.

If you have kids I would be concerned about making iit to easy to get to. I dont worry about my daughter, she has been taught but her friends in my truck is what I worry about.

I'll have to look into that one. I like the idea of putting it somewhere someone who doesn't own the vehicle would never think popped open, thats why I liked the Commander's swing down compartment under the sterring wheel. Most people wouldn't think about it unless they knew the vehicle.

I found a lockbox that has a bracket to lock it to the floor. However, if I go that route it looks like it will only fit under the backseat on the drivers side. Not a big deal since I keep my gun in reach when in the car, its just when I get out at like a bank or the kids school where I can't take it in. Are there any other little nooks and crannies that the average thief wouldn't find?

With a right handed holster with a strap, zip tied to the under side of the seat. No one would think to reach way up to look for something. They would reach under the seat but not up into it. Or a pouch with Velcro on it. You could put the other half of Velcro anywhere.

Do you have a bench seat or a center console? If you have a center console, you can pop out the cup holder tray and there is room under there to put a gun. It is a good hiding place for alot of stuff under there.

I have a small gun lockbox cabled to teh seat mount. It slides between the seat and console and you don't see it when stowed

Well what can I say Jhouse85, we all love our Fords that much we ain't letting no one get them .

Anyways I opted for a lockbox that has a mounting bracket and it locks into the bracket. Think it was called the Aries lockbox. I have it mounted under the back seat. Problem solved.
