Alright guys my X keeps needing to be jumped and after being jumped it runs like a top as usual. Took it to Autozone and had them hookup their little portable doohikie and told me the battery is fine but the alternator should be pushing out 14a and it's only pushing 13? Didn't realize 1aI made that big of difference but whatever. Im taking the alternator off in a few minutes and I'm gonna have it bench tested to confirm the output. Autozone sells the alt for $130the with a two year warranty, if the alt is ACTUALLY bad.
Is there a heavier duty alt that I can get that u guys recommend? I will be pulling an RV before too long so I'd like to get one that's gonna last. Any thoughts?

Ya for $20 more I guess its def worth it for lifetime warranty. I'll just have to wait till this friday when I get paid but I think it can wait till then.
I picked up the same alternator for my 2000 V10 and install took all of 10 minutes ( including removing the old one and putting in the new one ). I did mine right before leaving for the office in the morning .
No complaints and def worth the extra 20 for the lifetime. The Gold also has some better and non refurbished parts as compared to the slightly less expensive one.
I found the funds and got her done!!! Benchtest failed so I got the gold /w/ lifetime warranty. Hardest part was getting onto the truck to work on it!! Dang things so high lol.

LOL. I have one of those 8 ft long folding tables and set it up right in front of the truck - I use it as a scaffold
I have a Curt front hitch receiver installed. When I changed my alternator, I stuck in my hitch cargo carrier in the front and used that as a step and table to hold the parts and tools. Even with that, I still had to climb on top of the radiator to change it.
I have a 4' ladder that came off my kids bunk beds years ago that leans up against hte front perfectly. Then I just sit on the engine.
Any time someone says "battery or alternator" i have to say both. 99% of the time, one will take hte other with it. When I either of mine goes it takes the other, so I do it all at the same time to prevent the hassle.
Well crap. Looks like you were right Jay, pretty sure my battery is shot also. I let her run for like 20 mins yesterday after I put the new alt in and it barely started today, so im thinking that the battery is shot
