I have a question about some Headers I own. They are on my f150 400m 4x4 they have become a little rusty. I was wondering if I should remove the rust and recoat them and If I should how do I go about it? Or should I just replace them and if so what is a brand that guarantees theirs against rust? Any ideas would be grateful. Thanks.
Welcome to the world of headers. I have a set of Hooker super comps with the (so-called) metallic finish which should not rust but I have surface rust. To cure the rust forever send them to jet-hot coatings and for about $300 and a 3-4 week turn around you are good to go; the back yard fix would be to sand blast, heat them up with with a hand propane torch and paint with the high heat header paint (1200-1500 degrees) brand. Hooker is a good header and if they are not rusted through I would try and save them.
Well thats pretty cool. I dont want to see my initial investment go down the drain. I have a couple questions actually if you or any one can answer would be great. If I do send them to the company will they remove the rust and then refinish them or is that something I should do and if so What is the best way to do the outside and inside to clean them? Second there is a product Ive spotted has anyone ever tried this stuff called por 15 http://www.por15.com/hightempcoatings.html Im just curious it looks good but is it?
Check them out at www.jet-hot.com. They take your headers and completely refinish them; you don't have to do nothing to them. They sent me their catalog along with a shipment form to send with the headers and the finish is guaranteed.
