Engine Oil Confusion
I'm doing some checks for blown head gasket and wanted to first drain the oil since it's been setting all winter. I filled up a (what says 5 gallon drain pan??) I drained the pan with the old oil into empty gallon jugs...I filled up 4 gallon jugs! That makes 16 quarts and that's that counting oil I lost from filter...I thought the 7.3l only held 15 quarts. What am IO missing here...haven't cranked it up yet (battery to weak) so the check the dip stick would be premature...what am I missing here? It is a dark shade of milk chocolate (???) but radiator is still full. I pour some in a large mason jar waiting to see if I can see water separation...what should the capacity really be...ugh..suggestions?
