hey guys been a while since i been on here. i just pick up a 95 f150 4x4 4.9L single cab short bed from a family friend. it use to be a nice truck and ran good but it now dosnt want to run. the truck sat behind a barn for a little over a year. i have draind the gas put new fuel pump and new gas, plugs, wires cap and rotor. its getting spark and fuel but when i try to start it it barly starts if at all. and when it dose try to run its very rough then stalls. i pulled the injectors yesterday and seen that some of them were cloged and dirty. in the prosses of cleaning and rebuilding them. do u thank that could be the colprit or should i check some othere stuff.
Before you start throwing parts at it, check for codes. Just may save you some time and money. If there are no codes, I would change the fuel filter and check for pressure at the regulator. The coil could also be the problem. not enough spark will cause that very problem. It has happened to me and about drove me crazy before I found the problem.
the fuel filter was replaced, gunna replace the coil it's not up to spec when I tested it for resistance. also have to rebuild and clean the injectors when I pulled them out they were clogged and some of the pintle caps were cracked. I will post back when I get those issues done and hope it runs lol
ok guys got an update on the truck. rebuilt and cleaned te injectors and replaced the coil. still dosnt want to start. just did a fuel pressure test on it. it read 0 psi when i first put it on and turn the key to run. after trying to crank the engine it got to 50 psi. leaving the key on and let it sit it droped about 20 psi in about 10 15 min. im thankin the fuel regulator is bad but would that keep it from starting?
