Ok school me real quick, did ford make a factory 4v manifold for the 400?
And would any aftermarket manifold bolt up the 4100 then?
Dunno.... but 77-79s came with the 351M or 400 and that's subject to emissions testing which I avoid like a plague. I'm an FE and Windsor guy..... 75 and earlier.
If it's an aftermarket with a square bore, then my money is that it can accommodate a 4100 since the aftermarket typically caters to Holley square bore carbs.
IIRC, there are 351M/400 manifolds with and without EGR but both are square bores and 4100-able.
What would be a good manifold to run with the 4100?
I would like to keep the heat stove, and if i can ditch the egr valve that wouldn't hurt my feelings.
It's been a few years since I shopped for 400 intakes. But I believe there are only 3 available.
An Edelbrock Performer, Edelbrock Performer EGR or a Weiand Action Plus. They are all pretty close to the same. I liked the more solid carb mounting base of the Weiand and the Performer EGR intakes over the Performer intake. But otherwise they are pretty close to the same.
If you want to keep the heat stove then you need to go with the Edelbrock Performer EGR intake.
