I have a 77 f150 with a 400 and I was just wondering if any came with a 4bbl carb. I have a 2bbl and I would like a 4 but dont want to spend the money on an aftermarket intake. thanks
David
Hello,
Unless you build an adapter plate to go between the carb. and the existing 2bbl manifold you will have to get a manifold. Besides, an adapter would seriously take a bite out of any performance gains you would expect by adding the 4bbl. Look on ebay, I am sure that a 4bbl aluminum intake would show up at some point (will fit 351M/400).
I put an Edelbrock Performer manifold and carb on my 400 and I have never regretted it! The 400 will never be a racing engine, but the 4 bbl will get more power of it than you are getting with the stock manifold and carb. Check ebay for manifolds, you may find a good deal.
