Stereo/speaker questions?

Im installing a neew stereo in my truck, but im having difficulties choosing what i want
For a fact it mus be a cd stereo, must have usb and aux
i was thinking bout getting this one? Sony CDX-GT56UI CD Car Stereo iPod/USB/AUX Receiver NEW | eBay
If i do get this stereo, how hard is it to instal in the truck?
I mean i know id have to cut the dash panel so it can fit, do they even sell stereo kits for these trucks?
I cant remember if my dad had a kit in his 78?
And my other question was, could i fit 6x9 speakers in my doors?
i was thinking about getting these 2011 2) KICKER DS693 6x9" 280W 3 Way Car Audio Speakers 713034055365 | eBay
Would these be a problem on the door panels? Would it hit or rub against it?

Sorry i wrote so much, but any help/advice would be much appreciated
thanks

I forgot to mention, what size is the speaker on the dash?
Would my setup not sound good if i just left that speaker alone?

That's a common DIN-style head unit. As you suspect, you will need to get some sort of bracket to mount it in the dash, then cut your dash panel. There are not all-in-one "kits" for these trucks like you would get at Best Buy or Wal Mart, but there are two options:

1) Make your own. Here is mine: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11833830

2) There is a company that makes a bracket, but you still have to use the push-in carriage. Link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11768337

In either case, you still must do all the wiring yourself.

The door speakers are 6.5." You may have to re-drill the mounting holes, but the speaker cut-outs will accomodate 6.5". 6x9's will not fit in the doors without cutting the doors; in my opinion that looks bad. I have 6.5's in the doors, and boxed 6x9's behind the seat for a total of 4 channels.

I believe the dash speaker is 5x7. It's a cheap paper speaker, and is likely rotted from the sun by now. As long as you don't connect it to your new setup, it won't have any affect.

I agree with FMC400. 6x9 will fit if you cut out the steel, but the way the door panel is you cant make it look decent with a 6x9 grill. If you leave the panel as is it will block the speaker negating anything you get from going bigger. There are great 6.5" or 5 1/4" speakers and you wont have to cut the trim panel.

Well when I got my truck it had some oval style speakers, and I'm not sure if they were 6x9 or 5x7
And there is a huge hole that was made before I got the truck, I will try to get a pic later
But if I put the 6x9 would they rub or bother the door panel?

I put a similar Sony Xplode in my truck. Best thing I've done. I love the USB too.

I'm trying to figure out how they're selling $130 Kickers for $60.

Best thing to do would be to put round door speakers in the doors and then make an enclosure for some 5x7's, 6x9's, 4x10's, etc. Don't even bother trying to put a new speaker in the dash; you'll end up with weird sound distribution and half the sound. I ended up building a center console and putting two 2x10 Kickers in the side of it.

If youre paying $130 for a set of those kicker speakers youve been spending too much. Whatever you do dont buy any of the audio stuff from best buy or some place like that. They jack up the price to double what theyre really worth and rip you off. Either go to a specialty audio shop or buy from ebay or sonic electronix. I buy from ebay so I dont have to pay tax, especially on expensive stuff. For my audio setup I spent close to 1500, If I would have gone to some rip off place like best buy I would have spent double.

My preference for speakers are alpines and head units I like pioneer. For doors I would stick with either 6.5 or 5.25, but if some one already cut out bigger I guess you would have to fill that whole up or go with a speaker that fits. And dash speaker I would just take out.

Sonicelectronix.com is a really good place to buy from, they have tons of reviews on products and it will help you out with the pros and cons of whatever your looking to buy.

why don't you just get a tape measure and measure it? widest point to widest, longest to longest...

Looks like a 6x9 to me, but pictures lie...

Agreed. Why have people guess based on a photo where the scale is open to interpretation when instead you can just measure it and be sure?
