just bought a 88 Bronco 2
hello everyone i'm new to the fourm. i just picked up a 1988 ford bronco 2 with a 2.9L and 5 speed 4x4. its in really good shape body and interior are 9/10. i paid 100 dollar for it. i changed the plugs cap rotor wires. Air filter Fuel filter and come to find out when i drove it the Clutch is about gone... so i bought a new clutch kit and slave cylinder...
i'm pretty good with work on car and truck and have a big shop and tools.... but are there are tricks cause i know the slave cylinder is on the inside of the bell-housing...
any help would be great

clutch issues
Wow body is in excellent condition I live in Wisconsin aka the rust belt so a bronco ll in that condition is awsome. the only possible problem that you might encounter is there is a lip that connects the firewall to the floor pans and there isn't enough room to put the tranny in straight and you might have to loosen body mounts and and jack up the body to clear this lip thats what I encountered when I put a new clutch in my 84. Also get a blind hole puller for replacing the pilot bearing they are needle bearings. otherwise it is pretty simple clutch replacement. hope this helps

i bought a clutch kit that has the clutch pressure plate poilt bearing and slave cylinder... i been real busy with work so i talk to a buddy of mind who owns a auto shop and hes gonna change it out for me for 300 so i figure thats worth it.
then once its up and running i can start fixing it up for hunting

Have the fly wheel machined, Replace ALL the wear parts. Pilot bearing too. I would even replace the rear main oil seal on the 2.9 Block while I was there. I will look in my garage tomorrow see if I can find a tool. I will mail you the tool to drive the seal in if you want to do the job. It's a $35 piece of plastic. Bonus! 2 people can get use out of it.
