Front Fuel Level Sender question

Since I've owned my truck, the front fuel level sender/sensor has been dead. I scored a new Motorcraft one off eBay for cheap, so that's taken care of. What I am wondering is with the dual tank setup, do I still have to drop the tank to replace the sender on the front tank like you do with the rear one? Also, any advice on the task would be appreciated.

You will have to drop the tank or lift the bed

Mine was doing absolutely nothing - claims the tank is empty when it's full. Rear one reads fine.

I did both my tanks last winter without pulling the bed, super PITA! My sending units were OK, both of the gaskets were leaking for a few years.

Since it works fine on my rear tank i am pretty sure the sender is faulty....i might look into it after the rsk and fuel rebuild in the v.....
