GEM module version E vs version D

GEM module version E vs version D
Recently had problems with GEM.....replaced cracked windshield and dried GEM out in bag of rice. Well, it worked for a couple of weeks but now has died completly.
My question is I can't find exact replacemnt, but have found one that all numbers match except one is version "E" and one is version "D"
Will it work? Or does it mean that one of the functions controlled by the GEM module will not work....ie., ESOF, dash dimmer, one push driver window down etc. etc????
